There are movie lines that have stuck in my head that I break out on a regular basis, but they’re not the usual pop culture reference lines that people recognize, so it’s not like I connect with anyone when I use it. It’s more like a brain-five. I get me but no one else in my family so much as blinks.
For instance, when I really like something I call it “the best of the best. With honors.” (Men in Black) or when I can’t find something I’ll say “Where the fuck is the fucking tuna?” (Bridget Jones)
Do you guys have these? What are they? I want to know. :)
~~“Be careful out there among them English.”~~
when i’m saying goodbye to someone
(Witness)
~~“Stupid llamas!”~~
when I need to blame something other than myself
(Dude, Where’s My Car)
~~“We’ll never play opening night at The Chaos Theater!”~~
when someone is being too dramatic
(Scott Pilgrim)
~~“Baby fish mouth”~~
whenever anyone asks me to “guess what”
(When Harry Met Sally)
~~“That Caviar is a GARNISH!”~~
whenever there is caviar
(You’ve Got Mail)
“Looks like heroin, Gene.” (Fletch)
“No. Never. Never.” (also Fletch)
“What are the chances of the Russians attacking on a Thursday night?!” (The Man With One Red Shoe)
“Ok, put a man in the sewer!” (also The Man With One Red Shoe)
“Better just yank ‘em all!” (again, The Man With One Red Shoe)
“Hello. What have we here?” (The Empire Strikes Back)
“Here’s where the fun begins.” (various Star Wars films)
“People rob banks, Dan!” (Night Court, Bull’s response to Dan’s query about why he carries a fat wad of cash in his pocket)
I’m of the rare breed who finds The Man With One Red Shoe a quotable film, and in my defense, all of those lines were uttered by national treasure Dabney “80′s Perennial Asshole” Coleman.
